Composer and saxophonist Melina Paxinos presents the new her album “MUSES” on Thursday, October 29 at the Half Note Jazz Club, together with the Melina Paxinos Quartet.

“MUSES” is a contemporary jazz album with neoclassical influences, inspired by Surrealism and the artistic avant-garde of the interwar period.

The album is designed as a fantasy artistic salon, where music, painting, photography and literature come together. Each composition is associated with one of Melina's artistic "Muses" , including André Breton, Lee Miller, René Magritte, Man Ray, Tamara de Lempicka, Kiki de Montparnasse, Nikos Engonopoulos, Luis Buñuel and Leonard Cohen.

Through these personalities, “MUSES” opens a dialogue with the world of art and ideas of the interwar period, exploring themes such as freedom, desire, imagination and the constant reinvention of the self.
